Terms and Abbreviations
The following is a description of common terms and abbreviations used in this report.
Orthogonality |
A measure of how perpendicular grid cells are, 90o is optimal. |
Orthogonal Deviation |
The deviation angle away from 90o. |
Orthogonalize |
The act of "improving" a grid so that its grid lines are more perpendicular. |
Refine |
Increasing the cell resolution of the grid. |
Coarsen |
Decreasing the cell resolution of the grid. |
Regularize |
Applies uniform spacing between grid cells. |
Telescoping |
Regularize the grid with uneven spacing between grid cells. |
Global |
Modifications are made to the entire grid. |
Local |
Modifications are made to a user-specified area only. |
Spline |
A line that is used to define the boundaries of a grid, four splines are required to generate a grid. |
Polyline |
The P2D shape file that the user uploads into CVLGrid, usually to serve as an outline to draw the splines. |
CVL |
Curvilinear, referring to the grid |
