Layer Control
The Layer Control toolbox, shown in Figure 1, provides the user with a number of options for importing, exporting, selecting and manipulating the layers, including grids, splines and overlays as described below.
Figure 1. Layers toolbox.
Options available to the user from the Layers Tool are as follows:
Show/Hide | Makes the layer visible or hidden. When the the box is checked the layer is visible |
Legend | For the layer selected this option will show or hide that layer label on the legend. If box is checked then the legend is visible. |
Import | Imports a polyline files or GRD file. Also loads CVL grid file. |
Export | Opens a browser window to choose a location to save the selected layer. Options include the following extensions CVL, GRD, P2D, KML, LDB, SHP, ECOMSED, SEAGRID, CH3D. This option allows the user to export a grid to a third party applications such as DELFT3D or other modeling tools. |
New | Creates a new layer |
Delete | Deletes the selected layer |
Rename | Renames the selected layer |
Format | Changes the color, symbol and line type of the lines on layer |
Combine | Combines selected layers into one, this function only applied for splines and overlay layers. |
View | View the selected layer |
Note that users may also drag and drop a file onto the workspace to open it.
The user can also edit a selected layer by using the list of options available when RMC on the items list, the enabled items list varies by layer type as shown in Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 for grid, spline and overlay layers respectively.

It should be noted that the Convert to splines option is available only for overlay layers. The purpose is for the overlay layer to be converted to a spline layer.
In addition, to create a new layer, the user can RMC on blank space of Layer Control, shown in Figure 5.
