Creating a grid is a straightforward process. The important principle is that for each grid, at least four splines are needed. The splines should intersect each other at only point and the splines in the same orientation should not intersect each other. Follow these steps to create a simple grid:
- From the Splines menu, select Draw a New Spline or click on the Add a new spline button from the main toolbar (Generate Grid).
- LMC to start drawing a spline, and RMC to end drawing the spline. Draw a second spline close to parallel to the first spline.
- Next, draw two more splines along each end of the domain. These two splines must intersect the previous two splines (Generate Grid)
- RMC on the Splines layer in the Layer Control panel, then select the Create Grid option or click on the Create Grid from Splines button from the main toolbar, as shown in Generate Grid
- Create Grid from Splines form will pop up as shown in Generate Grid. From this form, the number of grid cells between two splines needs to be defined by entering a number of cells in the I and J directions (default values are 4). Generate Grid shows an example of the grid generated.

Tip
You can control the intensity of the grid for each region by dividing the computational domain into subregions between splines.
It is faster for grid generation if all splines in the same orientation have the same directions.
