The following steps introduce how to create grid:

  1. From the Splines menu, select Draw a New Spline or click on the Add a new spline button from main menu.
  2. LMC to start drawing spline, RMC to end drawing spline. Two first splines need to be done.
  3. Next, keep using the drawing splines mode, LMC on the beginning node of the first spline then RMC on the beginning node of the second spline.
  4. Next, LMC on the ending node of the first spline then RMC on the ending node of the second spline.
  5. Result is a closed splines created from four splines.
  6. Next, select the Select object button from main toolbar, LMC on inside the splines, then splines will be highlighted (turn into red)
  7. From the Splines menu, select Create Grid from Splines or click on the Create Grid from Splines button from main menu, Create Grid from Splines form will pop up as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 1 Select splines to highlight.

From the form in Figure 2, the user will define the number of cells for the grid by entering number of cell in I and J directions (default values are 4), the values input for Growth Factor will define the spacing distance for nodes of grid, with default values (zero), nodes are distributed evenly in I and J directions.

Figure 3 and Figure 4 show examples for grid generated with different growth factors.

Figure 2 Create Grid from Splines form.
