The Initial Conditions Water Quality form shown in ( Figure 1) provides tools for the user to set the initial conditions settings for water quality. Here the user may select spatially constant or spatially
There are three options to select spatially varying initial conditions for each of the water quality parameters. To set spatially varying initial conditions for the water quality parameters the user must interpolate data onto the model cells using the Apply Cell Properties via Polygons utilityUsers can set a constant value when selecting Spatially Constant. If the EFDC model uses Spatially Varying IC’s (ICIFN Format) or Spatially Varying IC’s (WQWCRST.INP), then the user must users should specify which input data format to use, i.e. WQ.ICIFN or WQWCRST.INP or the WQICI format. EFDC_Explorer will generate the IC’s in the format specified. Pressing the Initialize IC’s button assigns format.

Figure 2 shows the way to set spatially varying initial conditions for the water quality parameters. Users are able to press Varying IC's and then interpolate each classed data of the model cells using the Interpolate Classed Data utility. The options and format of data files that may be imported to Interpolate Classed Data are similar to Apply Cell Properties via Polygon. Initialize IC’s is used to assign the entire domain for all parameters to the values specified as the spatially constant IC’s. The user may later edit any of these IC fields using 2DH View. To access the data the user should select Water Column as the main Viewing Option then Water Quality as the sub-option, then select the parameter desired.
