Velocities
The options available to the user in the Parameter drop-down menu are as shown in Figure 1 below.
Figure 1. 2DH View Option: Velocities menu.
The velocities can be viewed using different options including velocity vector, direction, magnitude, component (x,y,z) velocities. For each type of velocity in the Parameter, there are two options: by depth average or by layer.
Velocity Direction | this option displays the direction of velocity. |
Velocity Magnitude | this option displays absolute values of velocity using a color ramp. |
Velocity Vector | this option displays velocity by vector, the value of velocity in each grid cell is presented by length of a vector at specific time. |
X-Velocity | this option displays velocity of X direction using a color ramps |
Y-Velocity | this option displays velocity of Y direction using a color ramps. |
Z-Velocity | this option displays velocity of Z direction using a color ramps. |
Velocity Magnitude Options
When the user edits the properties for the velocity vectors a form is displayed as shown in Figure 2 below. Here the user can set color options, value range, and labeling of the vectors.
In the Vector Locations frame the user can manually set the locations of the vectors so that they can be skipped by I, J values, or display the base of the vector from the cell centroid or at regular points. A location file for the locations of the vectors may also be used.
The scale factor may also be adjusted to set the size of the vector. Selecting the Modify button will display Vector Style the form shown in Figure 3. Here the user can set where the base position of the vector is located. The options for this are:
- Base Position = 0 %: The vector is anchored at origin.
- Base Position = 50 %: The vector is anchored at midpoint (default).
- Base Position = 100 %: The vector is anchored at head .
The arrow head length and width, as well as the line width may also be adjusted as required.
